Three nights of Rodeo excitement kicks off Thursday, May 1, 2008, with the Helotes Festival Association's 20th Annual PRCA Rodeo, held in conjunction with the Festival's Annual Cornyval which runs through Sunday, May 4.
 

20th ANNIVERSARY ALL AROUND COWBOY to be awarded CHAMPIONSHIP 2-HORSE TRAILER!

Sammy Catalena Rodeo Company will again produce this year's Rodeo which will consist of bull riding, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and women's barrel racing, with $2,200 added money. PLUS U S Smokeless Tobacco added money and $25.00 gas certificate for each event winner each night courtesy of Valley Mart #7. In addition, the Helotes Festival Association's PRCA Rodeo is proud to have national sponsors Coors, Dodge and Wrangler, as well as Helotes area sponsors to support our local events, which includes an open calf scramble each night for all young kids to participate in. "Muttin Bustin", with the top scorers from Thursday and Friday competing Saturday for the "Muttin Bustin" Championship belt buckle courtesy of L&M Feed & Pet Supply. 

Pre-rodeo activities begin at 7:30 each night with Sheep Dog Trials with the 7 event PRCA Rodeo rodeo kicking off at 8:00 p.m. nightly, followed by a dance each night on the Cornyval grounds.

On Thursday, May 1st, the Helotes Rodeo and Wrangler has teamed up with the Cancer Therapy & Research Center to host the annual TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK promotion in support of breast cancer awareness for PINK SHIRT NIGHT at the Helotes Rodeo. Wrangler Gift Certificates and other great items will be given away during our Thursday night rodeo performance, so we ask you to show your support by wearing your Wranglers and wearing PINK!

Friday, May 2nd will be COORS NIGHT at the Helotes Rodeo, and you can be the lucky winner of a Racing Jacket courtesy of COORS.

During Helotes' Saturday night rodeo performance, 4 names will be drawn who will each win 6 tickets (2 each night) to the NATIONAL FINALS RODEO held in December in Las Vegas, PLUS hotel accommodations at the New South Point Hotel & Casino or the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, AND, one of those lucky winners also receive tickets from SOUTHWEST AIRLINES! PLUS the 5th name drawn will receive a childs Cub Cadet Lawn Tractor (recommended ages 3-7) courtesy of DeWinne Equipment Co.  Raffle tickets are $10 and may be purchased from any rodeo committee member or at the rodeo. You do not have to be present to win.

A Four Man Scramble Cowboy's Golf Tournament will be held Friday, May 2, 2008 at The Golf Club of Texas in San Antonio. Entry fee is $70 per player and includes cart, green fee, 2 mulligans, range balls and a full BBQ buffet. Entry deadline is April 28, 2008. Box seat tickets have been SOLD OUT in the past, so in order to get on the Box Seat waiting list, give Wendy Smith a call at 695-4575. General admission tickets to the rodeo are only $7 per person for all ages. Cornyval gate admission for persons over 12 years of age is $6 on Friday and Saturday.   Cornyval gate admission on Thursday is free. Discount advance general admission tickets may be purchased at Cavender's Boot City,  Shepler's in San Antonio, Sterling Bank, Compass Bank, Broadway Bank, and L&M Feed & Pet Supply in Helotes.

 

"Muttin Bustin" signup will be held April 19th at 11:00 am at L&M Feed in Helotes.
